Voices- Day 19 of Advent

During Advent this year, I am reflecting daily using this Advent Photo Devotional. The word designated for December 17th was #Voices.

Singing the F. Melius arrangement of "Beautiful Savior" - what happens when you have a whole lot of Lutherans (and Lutheran college choir people) together for a wedding.

The angels give voice announcing the Savior’s birth. Mary gives a voice of praise in her Magnificat. John the Baptist is the one foretold in Isaiah, whose voice would cry out in the wilderness.

Voices are important to this story as we journey to the manger, aren’t they?

We give voice by the way we tell and share the news. We give voice by the way we live our lives and serve our neighbors, community, and the world in our vocations. We give voice through quiet prayer and being present with those in need. We give voice by joining with those who are marginalized, scapegoated, and othered by society. We also give voice through praise, rejoicing, and song.

How are you giving voice this year? What voices are you hearing?

As we journey these last few days towards Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the twelve days of celebration, think about how you are sharing your voice. You may not even be aware of the way that you are giving voice to God’s story of love, promise, and salvation.
